While everyone else is stuck in the past with new cars that look that old cars, Bertone is looking ahead. The famous car designer now only devises concepts for various client automaker brands who take the designs as a study on future core brand style directions. Alfa Romeo has been a client of also Italy based Bertone for years. At the Geneva Autoshow (2010) Bertone unveiled this Pandion Concept - which I got to see in the flesh recently. While a thematic successor of the C8 Competizione, the Pandion is actually built on top of a Maserati GT. At least it is an all Italian machine.

The highly futuristic design is a source of pride for the design firm. The rhythmic shapes and smooth angles are couples with an interesting, and new type of design source - organics. Well, computer organics - if there is such a thing. Bertone created special software to create random looking shapes and "formations" which are the basis for the crystalline looking exterior parts, and the biologic looking interior parts. The entire rear-end and interior wheel decor is based on quartz crystal formations. The new type of look is utterly novel and highly thought provoking. Sensible for production? Not in an instant, but artistic nonetheless.

Inside the car is all about shapes looking like they stem from the "skeleton" of the case. As though they are ripping through the skin. Follow the paths of the cabin structure to see what I me an. The blue seats provide a color thematically like the pinkness inside a body. Despite the highly unconventional cabin structure, the car is still fitted with all the amenities that one might desire, mostly controlled via a large touch screen panel.

The real mechanical spectacle of the Pandion are the automatic gullwing doors. A press of a button and the rear haunches of the car lift and move aside, making room for the scissor like doors to electronically lift up. They close in the same automatic manner. Will any part of this car reach future Alfa Romeo cars? According to Bertone, "probably." Alfa quite likes the new interpretation of their "V" grill design that you can see on the front of the Pandion. If they are smart, Alfa will think a lot about how to incorporate the spectacular visuals of the Pandion's rear-end as well. There's are about 30 more horses under the hood, and a Mansory-tuned suspension will keep you rolling lower to the ground by 30 millimeters on Mansory-designed wheels exclusive to this car. It isn't for everyone, but there will be no doubt if it's for you: you have things like "Removed from the Garden of Eden" on your resume, one of your hobbies is pretending to be a serpent, and you have a bit of a fascination with fire.

Mansory , a "specialist for refining luxury automobiles," has had its way with the Maserati GranTurismo and GranTurismo S. The black-and-redness you see above is the result. Carbon fiber does duty on spoilers and aprons at the front and back, as well as the grille and trim for the new duct work. It's definitely... polarizing, but this one-off Maser is certainly less outrageous than some of Mansory's other creations .

There are about 30 more horses under the hood, and a tuned suspension will have you rolling 30 millimeters lower to the ground via a set of Mansory-designed wheels. As excitement and anticipation mount for the arrival of a new "entry-level" sedan from Maserati , so do the rumors. The new model, expected to slot in below the current Quattroporte , has been the subject of much conjecture and speculation, but the latest hits a little closer to home.

According to reports, the junior QP could share its underpinnings with the next Chrysler 300C . This in contrast with previous reports that the Trident marque was looking to develop a new platform for the model, a move that would be decidedly more expensive for a Fiat/Chrysler empire already spread too thin. (Closer collaboration is expected between the Chrysler and Lancia divisions, which could also lead to a next-gen 300-based successor to the discontinued Lancia Thesis .)

As sources point out, this wouldn't be the first time that Maserati and Chrysler have gotten into bed with each other. Close ties between onetime Chrysler chief Lee Iacocca and Alejandro de Tomaso (of the eponymous sportscar company that once owned Maserati) led to the disastrous badge-whoring exercise known as the Chrysler TC by Maserati (pictured above). If the latest reports come to fruition, we'd certainly hope the outcome would be in a different league altogether.

Lindsay Lohan almost added "BABY MURDERER" to her resume when she allegedly hit a toddler in a stroller with her Maserasti while terrorizing West Hollywood yesterday afternoon. Radar has a super grainy video of a baby in sunglasses crying her life out while being pushed by her nanny. The video doesn't show LiLo's Maserati actually making contact with the baby, but a paparazzo at the scene says it happened so it must be so! Throw the crackie in the clink along with the NOT RIGHT bitch who stamped "reinstated" on her drivers license.

Brayan Jaime, the pap who witnessed all of this, tells Radar, "There was a woman pushing a kid in the stroller, maybe a two or three-year-old, crossing the street. Lindsay took the red light and hit the stroller. It wasn't super hard, but she made impact and hit them. Lindsay pulled to the right, stopped for two seconds, and then just kept going. I'm 100 per cent sure Lindsay was driving because I saw her with my own eyes. She was just driving like crazy once I started following her. She was trying to lose me, blowing stop signs and stuff. Lindsay was scared because she knew I saw what she did."

Another witness says that LiLo was pulling out of her apartment building when she made a left turn right into the baby's stroller. The witness said she barely tapped the stroller, so she might not have known what she did.

TMZ asked Brayan why the kid's nanny didn't look that worried afterwards and he said, "She was in shock and Hispanic so she was scared."

This is true. I'm half Hispanic so I'm always half scared. Always half scared that la migra is going to deport half of me. This is why I piss out half of my bladder whenever I see a cop.

LiLo had this to say about the whole mess: "I don't know what you're talking about."

Oh, yeah, LiLo knows exactly what happened. White Oprah is having afternoon Bloody Marys with her lawyers right now to discuss suing that baby! That baby is the one who hit LiLo's leased Maserati with her stroller. That baby's stroller scratched LiLo's Maserati. That baby and her fancy sunglasses are to blame! Baby better wait by her Fisher Price Blackberry, because White Oprah's lawyers will be calling. When White Oprah is done with that baby, she won't have a diaper to shit in!

We witnessed several million-dollar cars go up for sale at RM's auction on Saturday night , but across town, the Gooding & Company auction had even more impressive metal crossing the block. Gooding's two night auction resulted in more than $64 million in sales, including six world records. "We went into this year's Pebble Beach Auctions with high expectations because of the sheer number of extraordinary cars we had consigned," said David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding & Company. "Our highest-ever Pebble Beach weekend results at $64.59 Million speak for themselves and I couldn't be happier."

The record-setting cars auctioned off by Gooding:

• 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione at $7,260,000
• 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza at $6,710,000
• 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta SEFAC Hot Rod at $6,105,000
• 1956 Maserati 200SI at $2,640,000
• 1951 Ferrari 340 America Spider at $2,530,000
• 1937 Jaguar SS100 at $1,045,000

In addition, several other cars topped the million dollar mark including a 1995 McLaren F1 at $3,575,000, a 1928 Mercedes-Benz S 26/180 Boattail Speedster at $3,740,000 and a 1966 Ford GT40 Mk I at $1,650,000.
